Mr. Nirmal Kumar Chattopadhyay, President

Changing Lives Foundation is proud to have Mr. N.K. Chattopadhyay as the President of the organization. A Fellow of Institution of Engineers, India, F.I.E and a Chartered Engineer, he has made significant contribution to the growth of several multinational companies all over the world as a Global Consultant in addition to his forty years of corporate experience in reputed companies like OSPAK International Ltd., SIAMOENIX Paper Ltd., Andrew Yule and Co. Ltd., Mackinnon Mackenzie & Co. Ltd. & Giovanola - Binny Ltd. As a consultant, he has served Sandell and Co., Canada, Simon Eastern Ltd., USA, Deloit Corporation, USA, Kimberley Clark, USA, Chleq ‘Frote’, France, Jaako Poyry, ABB and VALMET, Finland to name only a selected few and has negotiated collaborations in pulp and paper machinery, off shore fabrication, ore handling plant, ship building machinery, EOT cranes and hydraulic buffers during his corporate tenure.

Mr. N.K. Chattopadhyay has been awarded the ‘Best Citizens of India’ award in 2000 in view of the spectacular performance in his area of activity. Past dignitaries who have received the award are Master Cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, Business Tycoon Vijay Mallya, Lord Swaraj Paul and Chief Cardiovascular Surgeon Dr. Naresh Trehan. He has also been considered for the ‘Bharat Gaurav Award’.

Mr. Kaushik Shiek Pal, Vice President

K. Shiek Pal is an attorney and public policy specialist with broad experience spanning corporate law practice, education reform issues, and international affairs. Currently he is working as the Director of Policy and Government Relations at First Five Years Fund. Mr. Pal’s legal practice has included merger control work with the U.S. Department of Justice and in private practice. Mr. Pal has also served as a legal and policy advisor on domestic education reform issues to non-profit organizations, state level government agencies, and political campaigns. Mr. Pal's education experience includes teaching at an inner-city public school, helping to open and direct charter schools, and serving as Assistant General Counsel to Teach For America and Assistant Attorney General in the District of Columbia.

Most recently, Mr. Pal has been expanding his policy expertise into the international arena. He is currently studying Middle Eastern and Persian Gulf security issues at the Georgetown School of Foreign Service, where his research focuses on the role of education in terrorist recruitment and radicalization. His previous academic accomplishments also include a Masters in Public Administration from Harvard University.

Mr. Dilip Pal, Honorary Life Member

Mr. Dilip Pal is the Honorable Life Member of Changing lives Foundation. The organization boasts of having him as a benevolent advisor and a path setter to all other active members in view of his profound experience in matters related to International Development.

He has been a Full Bright Scholar representing India in 1955-56 in the field of economics and has a Masters in Urban Studies from Yale University, USA. In addition, he completed his PhD. in Urban Regional Planning from University of Illinois, Urbana- Champaign, USA.

Mr. Pal has been associated with the UN Technical Cooperation Department, UN for over 15 years and served in countries like Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Lybia and Poland.

Paying his respect to the Noble Laureate poet and renowned Indian social activist, Rabindranath Tagore, Mr. Pal often says, “I am proud to be an Indian. I am proud to be a Bengali….because I can read and understand Tagore in its original.”

Ms. Meghna Laha, Founder and Secretary

Ms. Meghna Laha is the Founder Member and Secretary of Changing Lives Foundation. She has over 5 years of corporate experience in distinct market research and social research companies from around the world. Businesses lacking long term objectives in social value maximization have always disinterested her and she chose to switch her career objectives to International development.

Ms. Laha has a MS. in Environmental and Resource Economics from University of Rhode Island, USA and a Masters in Public Administration (with specialization in Economic Policy Making) from Columbia University, New York. In 2007-2008, she also served at The World bank, Washington D.C. and thereafter been a consultant to several International and national organizations like the UNDP, India and the Planning Commission, India. Currently, she is pursuing her PhD. with University of Rotterdam, Erasmus, Netherlands.

“Changing Lives Foundation is my dream and I want to help others live their own dreams. This is for humanity,” she says.

Mr. Sudipta Bhattacharya, Co-Founder

Mr. Sudipta Bhattacharya has been the key source of inspiration behind the establishment of the organization apart from the organization’s self intended objectives. He has contributed by uni-directionally supporting the cause of the organization during its naïve stages of formation and is a Co-Founder of the organization.

He holds a double Masters in Statistics from Calcutta University and University of Connecticut, USA. In addition, he also holds a MS. in Mathematics of Finance from Columbia University, New York. With over 10 years of corporate experience, currently, he is serving as a senior level Clinical Statistician at Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals Inc., Germany.

Mr. Bhattacharya believes in the path set by Swami Vivekananda and wishes to dedicate the cause of the organization to the Swami’s life. He has been a sponsor to several social and cultural events in Europe and USA and made donations to organizations like the Christian Children’s Fund, working for poor children in India.

“We can only achieve what we really want,” he believes.

Mr. Sudhin Laha, Financial Advisor and Treasurer

Mr. Sudhin Kumar Laha is the Treasurer and most valued financial advisor to the organization. His combined educational and professional expertise in management and legal issues makes him the most suitable planner and advisor to the organization.

Mr. Laha holds a MBA degree from IISWBM, Calcutta, L.L.B. and Masters in English Literature from Calcutta University. He has over ten years of business handling experience in legal matters, production and supply chain management and financial issues. In addition he also has fifteen years of experience in Marketing and Sales as Branch Manager of distinct companies in India like Hindustan Motors Ltd. and Ranbaxy Laboratories Ltd. Currently, he is a Solicitor and Owner of A.C. Law & Company.

“Welfare has always driven me and I am more than glad to be a part of Changing Lives Foundation,” he states.

Mr. Abhishek Kumar Singh, Assistant Secretary

Mr. Abhishek Kumar Singh has been the most active member supporting Ms. Meghna Laha, Secretary in planning and implementation of the organizational goals. Abhishek holds a B.E degree from Acharya Nagarjuna College, Andhra Pradesh, India and a MBA from Symbiosis College, Pune. Currently he is pursuing his full time studies in International Production Management from TUHH, Hamburg, Germany. Only in his late twenties, he has gathered commendable experience in the field of production engineering and operations management from distinct companies in India.

Abhishek dreams of a village school in India with an international level curriculum and a food park that sustains the school and the nearby villages. He wishes to introduce the latest technologies in animal husbandry and fisheries in the rural villages of India. Always driven by social welfare, he has joined Changing Lives Foundation to make his own dreams come true along with India’s.

“I want to the needful for the needy,” he says.
